At YCC, we have a long history of developing partnerships and networking with community groups, service providers, and business and government agencies. Our aim is to share resources and skills to ensure community needs are met and to maximise outcomes for our community.

Ongoing Community Projects

The Nourish Project – Food Relief Program

The Nourish Project rescues surplus food from landfill and transforms this donated food into nutritious meals which are distributed and provided free to people in need. With the support of so many, we have already delivered over 8000 meals since October 2020!

The Carers Employment Support Program at Yarraville Community Centre
supports unpaid carers in finding training and work that is compatible with their duty of care.

Bringing People Together – Chatty Café

Electricity Bill Support For Residents – $250 Power Saving Bonus

We are helping community members apply for the State Government’s $250 Power Saving Bonus, a one-off payment to help eligible Victorians experiencing energy bill stress.

Share The Dignity Vending Machine

Giving those in need the dignity they deserve. The Dignity Vending Machine is a vending machine that dispenses a FREE period pack which has six tampons and two pads in it. The machine is there to help women, girls, and those who menstruate. The Pink Box is located in the Yarraville Community Centre’s (59 Francis St, Yarraville) ground-level women’s toilets. Because access to period products is a right, not a privilege.

Good Shepherd’s No Interest Loans (NILs)

The Yarraville Community Centre is thrilled to work with and support our community as a referral point for Neighbourhood Houses Victoria and the Good Shepherd’s No Interest Loan Program.

Here’s how we can help you apply for a loan

KOGO (Knit One Give One) Free Knitting Group

KOGO is a not-for-profit organisation that asks volunteers to knit warm winter woollies for distribution to people in need. Join our group of knitters to support this great initiative – suitable for all levels of knitters (mentoring support provided).

Free Child Car Restraint Fitting

Book in for a free child care seat restraint fitting or safety check at YCC. The service is conducted in the car park at 59 Francis Street, Yarraville every second Tuesday. The service is hosted by Kid Safe Victoria in partnership with Neighbourhood Houses Victoria with support from the Victorian State Government. Bookings are essential, please book via the link below…

Free Tax Help

The Tax Help program is a network of ATO-trained community volunteers who can help you prepare your tax return using myTax. The Yarraville Community Centre will be offering free weekly face-to-face tax help sessions every Tuesday at 59 Francis Street, Yarraville.
