Blacksmithing (adult and child duo)

Course summary

Join this adult and child (for ages 8+) beginners workshop to learn the craft of blacksmithing.

Together you will learn how to forge a book mark and an S-hook, then decide who gets to keep which item!  This workshop is both engaging and calming, the perfect activity to unplug and get creative.

What you will learn

  • basics of blacksmithing
  • hands on practice guided by an experienced tutor
  • how to make a book mark and S – hook

What to bring

  • all materials are provided including safety gloves
  • wear long a long sleeve shirt, long pants and closed in shoes
  • long hair needs to be tied back
  • water bottle

What you will get

  • at least 1 book mark and 1 s-hook per pair
  • The ticket price includes one adult and one child

About the tutor

Rob Nansen (Jesses Stump Blacksmithing and Bush Furniture) is a Melbourne based artisan who works with iron and wood using traditional hand tools and techniques. Along with creating original pieces, Rob facilitates beginner workshops so others can also experience these slow and meditative crafts.
