In this three week course students will learn the basics in Polymer clay, printed/painted wooden and leather jewellery making techniques. This course is suitable for those wanting to learn some new skills and techniques to make jewellery for themselves or to create ranges to sell at markets or shops. No experience necessary, all materials and tools provided.
Week 1 – Polymer Clay
You will learn how to create beads and basic earrings using a variety of techniques to make plain and patterned beads with 40 colours to choose from including metallic. Then how to attach fittings and string using tools. Students will take home a beaded necklace and 2-3 pairs of earrings.
Week 2 – Wooden Jewellery
You will learn how to paint wooden components and beads and add patterns using Japanese transfer paper. Then how to assemble using pliers cutters, metal findings and beading string. Students will take home a necklace and pair of earrings.
Week 3 – Leather Jewellery
You will learn how to cut and shape leather using scissors and a heat gun, then how to assemble with tools using studs and metal findings. We use kangaroo leather with many colours to choose from. Students will take home a necklace, brooch and pair of earrings.
About the tutor
Anna Kolusniewski is a practising artist, teacher, jewellery and costume designer. Anna teaches a variety of art and craft classes across Melbourne, suitable for all age groups and always lots of hands-on creative fun.
