Hands-On! Burgers & Chips and Mosaics & Watercolour Collage

Course summary

Join us for our whole-day School holiday program filled with creativity, and most importantly FUN!

Suitable for children aged between 7 and 12 years old.

9.30am – 12.30pm: Make Your Own Burgers and Chips for Lunch

In the morning, a fun hands on class teaches a classic and delicious staple that children will be able to make at home again when something quick and tasty is required. This class will take the humble burgers and chips and help elevate them to taste just as good as takeout. The essentials to making a classic burger that your children can remix and elaborate on if they wish.

About the tutor

Yianni is extremely passionate about food. Having spent 7 years living on a farm on the island of Crete in Greece, his love and knowledge of food comes from the heart and traditions of his grandmother, mother and father (a former cake maker and vegetable producer in Crete).
Yianni has a very creative and intuitive approach to cooking and believes anyone can be a great cook if they put their mind to it.

12.30pm – 3.30pm: Mosaic Making & Watercolour Collage

In the afternoon, children will have a choice of making a mosaic mirror, photo frame, or coaster.
Children will learn the art of mosaics by arranging tiny tiles and glass to form dazzling masterpieces to take home.  While waiting for the glue to dry before grouting, the tutor Sue will teach the children the watercolour collage. Enjoy the exciting journey into hands-on crafting and painting!

About the tutor

Sue Taylor Pearce has forged a successful career as an educator, and creative small business owner and recently discovered a passion for adult learning.
Sue has extensive knowledge and experience with program design, delivery, and evaluation.  Her creativity, ability to build rapport and student engagement helps instil a sense of confidence and self-belief in her students. Sue is also a qualified Child care educator. Sue’s passion for art and versatility make for an amazing tutor.



  • Please ensure children are dropped off at YCC, 59 Francis Street, Yarraville at 9.15am.
  • Children will need to be picked up by 3.30pm sharp.
  • Please let us know if your child has any allergies.
  • All materials provided.
  • BYO apron, snacks and drink.
  • Casual clothes the children can get messy in.
