Mindfulness & Art for Children in Lockdown (Online)

Course summary

This workshop will be delivered via Zoom. You will be sent a link beforehand and delivery is to inner west suburbs of Melbourne.

Explore mindfulness art in this 2.5 hour online workshop designed around the process rather than a finished product. Children will be given complete creative freedom using a variety of different mediums and methods such as drawing, painting and sculpture including how to use recycled materials from around the home and garden in making art. Mindfulness creates an awareness of emotions, physical sensations in the body, and when you are being mindful, you have an enhanced ability in terms of your self-awareness and capacity to reflect on your experience and daily life. Breathing and stretching exercises will be incorporated in the session. Art materials supplied, price includes delivery suitable for kids from 5 -7 years old. Closing date for bookings (must be within 5km of Spotswood) is Monday 28th September.

What you will need: (please try and collect some of these Recycled materials list)

  • Egg carton
  • Plastic milk bottle and lids
  • Soft drink bottles
  • Small cardboard boxes – cereal, crackers, etc.
  • Leaves and small twigs
  • Pine cones, seed pods or any interesting dry organic materials
  • Wrapping paper and foil
  • Wool, fabric, ribbon, string
  • Magazines and old books to cut up

About the tutor
Anna Kolusniewski is a practising artist, teacher, jewellery and costume designer. Anna teaches a variety of art and craft classes across Melbourne, suitable for all age groups and always lots of hands-on creative fun.

IMPORTANT: 

Please set your child up somewhere they are allowed to create mess at table, if it’s a nice day the garden would be perfect if your device works there or on the drop sheet provided inside. If they are outside a have a bucket of soapy water & cloth ready for clean up. We will be using paint which does wash out, but still wear clothing you don’t mind getting messy. Please have an exercise mat or blanket ready and scissors. *Your child should wear clothes you don’t mind them getting dirty in*
