Join us for a fun jam packed day of creative arts activities: singing, dancing, storytelling, drawing, painting and crafts.
*Two staff will be in the room with the children at all time.
*All children need to be toilet trained.
9.00am – 10.00am: Creative movement with Amelia
Let’s enjoy creative movement with Amelia!
Creative movement is not only fun and engaging but will help young children practice or develop coordination skills. Children will also develop musicality and importantly self-expression.
About tutor:
Amelia (Millie) Leach is a passionate young dance teacher who has extensive experience in performing and teaching. Having previously worked within the local dance community for six years, she has a strong enthusiasm for bringing opportunities for dance and movement further into the community sector. Combining her Certificate IV in full time dance, work experience and variety of performance experience (most recently WMTC’s May-June season of Mamma Mia and Scimm Dance Company’s ‘Nexus’ program), she hopes to foster a safe, fun environment for young movers to learn creatively.
10.00am – 12.00pm: Storytelling & music with Shyamalie
After having fun dancing, meet Shyamalie for storytelling time!
She is one of our amazing childcare staff. Her soft and warm voice will help children relax and restore energy. After storytelling time, we will have fun dancing to music and enjoying lunch together!
About Shyamalie:
Shyamalie, originally a primary school teacher from Sri Lanka, has completed her Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Children’s Services, and is now a valued full-time staff member at YCC working within in our childcare service. Shyamalie is adored amongst our group of children, her kind and caring nature with children shines when she is with them.
12.00pm – 1.30pm: Arts and crafts with Amanda
A time for the children to express their creativity!
Amanda’s interactive art and craft programs for children are always in demand. Children will learn how to use their imagination and new drawing techniques. Amanda knows exactly how to engage with children and get them talking and having fun!
About Tutor:
Amanda is an artist/graphic designer who has been working in the Western Suburbs for many years, with not for profit organization, councils and in educational environments, as well as having her own arts practice. She works in many mediums such as digital art, printing, drawing, painting and mosaics. She enjoys working with all ages delivering art workshops and sharing her knowledge and passion for the all things creative.
IMPORTANT:
- Please ensure children are dropped off at YCC, 59 Francis Street, Yarraville between 8.45am – 9.00am
- Children will need to be picked up at 2.00pm
- Please let reception staff and/or the tutor know if your child has any allergies
- All materials provided. BYO lunch and drinks
- Dress in casual clothes so the children can get messy. Please also pack a change of clothes!
