Course summary
Neighbourhood House Week is an annual national celebration, recognising the important contribution over 1,000 Neighbourhood Houses make in local communities across Australia. This year, the theme is ‘Your Place To Connect”. Every week, more than 400,000 people walk through the doors of a Neighbourhood House to access support, connection and opportunity.
At Yarraville Community Centre we will celebrate on Friday, 15th May 2026, and invite the community to join us for free activities along with a shared luncheon.
Bookings are required for each session.
11.00am – 12.30pm: Art in motion free form paper wire sculpting with llona
Discover the versatile art of paper wire sculpture in our engaging workshop, where creativity meets flexibility.
You will learn to craft a wire framework and cover it with paper, forming unique sculptures limited only by your imagination. Whether it’s an abstract shape, a miniature figure, or a nature-inspired form, you can bring personal items (such as fabric, wood, or coloured paper) to customize your pieces. This hands-on experience blends technique with open-ended creativity, inviting everyone to explore and express their artistic ideas in a fun, social setting.
Your tutor Ilona is a sculptor, art therapist and art mentor with a vision to support students in creating their own unique work. Ilona has been a creative professional for almost three decades and after many years of focusing on art, international exhibitions, art fairs, and everything that’s involved with being a professional artist, she realised that she not only wants to inspire people with her work, but also give them access to their own creativity.
