Join our Beginner sewing course and master the fundamentals of using a sewing machine while creating delightful projects!
In this course, you will learn essential skills such as threading, stitching, sewing corners, and backstitching. You will craft practical items, including a stitching sampler, a stuffed pin cushion, a tote bag, and a zipper purse, all using scrap fabrics.
Our focus is on building your confidence as you learn new techniques and complete projects with a professional finish.
What you will learn
- about your sewing machine by practicing stitching and threading the needle and bobbins

- how to make a stuffed pin cushion with your own scrap fabrics *Tutor will provide the stuffing
- how to make a tote bag with your own scrap fabrics
- about hemming and finishing your projects professionally
- how to make a zipper purse with your own scrap fabrics and zippers
- practicing sewing zippers into a purse

- sewing machine *must be in working condition or recently serviced
- tool kit & sewing materials for projects (scrap fabrics and zipper) *zipper & material size will be advised in the class

About the tutor
Amanda Lobo is a passionate fashion design educator and sewing mentor based in Melbourne’s west. Known for her hands-on, inclusive teaching style, she empowers students of all ages to explore creativity through fabric and design.
Outside the classroom, Amanda runs The Sorting Company, a home organising business, and creates handmade textile goods under her label NudiBags.
