Traditionally celebrated with an entirely plant-based feast, Bulgarian Christmas Eve brings together a generous selection of seasonal dishes, each with its own place in the celebration.
You’ll learn about the customs behind the meal while preparing and tasting a selection of traditional Bulgarian dishes, with plenty of practical cooking tips along the way.

About the tutor
Sonya is a food educator and the founder of Sonya’s Nurtured Kitchen, where she teaches practical cooking skills, nutrition and food culture through hands-on
workshops. She was born and raised in Bulgaria and went on to study a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition in Denmark. She combines evidence-based nutrition knowledge with a love of everyday cooking. After meeting her Indian partner, Sonya moved to Melbourne and fell in love with the abundant mix of cuisines. She worked in a social enterprise cafe and commercial kitchens and by facilitating community food education discovered her passion for teaching cooking. Her classes are practical, relaxed and welcoming, with a focus on helping people feel more confident cooking and making good food part of everyday life.
