About the tutor

Retired teacher Michael and his wife Therese are home bakers and have been so for more than forty years. Michael’s baking passion is bread and he’s been making sourdough since a culture was gifted to him nearly 20 years ago. It is this culture which he is still using and sharing with his classes. Michael aims to demystify the sourdough process and show that it is more than suited to the humble domestic kitchen and fits very easily into a busy lifestyle… and fresh from the oven, nothing tastes better.

What students said about the class

“Wonderful course, excellent instructors. Covered the basics of sourdough bread-making in a clear and hands-on fashion, with great tips and helpful observations and insights along the way. Really good supporting material to take home and my first try at baking a loaf a home made with dough prepared in the class came up trumps! Recommended for anyone scared of bread-making (as I was) for a lovely demystifying experience.”
