Join us during Law Week for a presentation on “Understanding Tenancy Rights & Responsibilities” being delivered by Program Manager, Christopher Carr – Tenancy Economic Justice Program from WEstjustice.
Victorian Law Week is an annual festival that makes learning about the law easy. It’s there to help Victorians understand their rights, find answers to their questions, and find out what help is available to them.
This informative session aimed at empowering tenants about their rights and responsibilities in the area of tenancy law. This session is designed to provide clarity, insights, and guidance. We will discuss rent regulations, property maintenance standards, dispute resolution, and the eviction process.
The session will increase your understanding of:
- Learn about your legal rights to ask the landlord or agent for repairs. If you have trouble getting them to act, this session will guide you how to get repairs done
- Understand the legal steps for a landlord to take action for eviction
- Get to know about the rules for the landlord to legally raise the rent and the rights of the renter to challenge it
