Holiday Podcasting Basics with Kayla & Kat - 2.00pm

Course summary

Welcome to the school holiday workshops that hand children the microphone!

Got an idea for a podcast? Ever dreamed of hearing your own voice on the radio? Is there something the world absolutely needs to hear? An original song, a silly joke, a heartfelt poem, or a story only you can tell? Then this is your moment!

Let your kids bring their creativity, ideas, best or wackiest ideas to life via YCC’s Podcasting Basics workshops these July school holidays. What parents love most about YCC’s school holiday programs is that they’re always unique and a little bit different. And these new FREE podcasting workshops will be absolutely FUN!

Suitable for all primary school aged children.

Three time slots will be offered during the one day. Session programing will be the same, simply run at different times to offer families an opportunity to attend one.

2.00pm – 3.00pm: Podcasting Basics

In the first hour, Kayla and Kat will run a super‑fun podcasting masterclass made just for kids. They’ll show the children what gear they need, how to set it up, and how to record their voice so it sounds awesome. They will learn where they can share their podcasts and how to turn their ideas into a real episode. By the end, they’ll be ready to hit record and make their own show.

3.00pm – 4.00pm: Time To Hit Record!

Then in the second hour, kids get to use everything they’ve learned. Everyone will record their own 60–90 seconds of audio, a mini‑podcast made by each of them. It could be a story, a joke, a review, anything they want. And the coolest part? Their recording will be played on The Westsider Radio during Book Week, so the whole community can hear their creation.
